GSU South Campus

About Project

Maxwell-Reddick and Associates, as a sub-consultant to MBS Architects and Sheridan Construction, served as the civil engineer of record on the GSU Central Warehouse Facility through a design-build contract with GA Board of Regents.

Our services for the site consisted of designing a 700 foot long 2-lane access road for semi-truck and campus delivery vehicles to serve the proposed 57,333 square foot building as well as grading the site to accommodate multiple height loading docks at the rear of the facility to serve passenger trucks, box trucks, and semi-trucks according to use.  A 12-inch City of Statesboro water main was designed to run parallel with the access road to serve the warehouse.  A righthand deceleration turn lane was installed on Lanier Drive as a part of the project.  The access road and water main were both designed to be extended for future developments.  The general scope of services consisted of site layout, grading/drainage, erosion control, NPDES stormwater, utility (including on-site septic system), and typical details.  The project followed GA BOR standard design procedures with 30%, 60%, and 85% design review submittals.  Maxwell-Reddick also provided construction phase services including review of material submittals, review contractor pay requests, and performing construction observations.

Our Approach

Additional services performed for the site include performing a traffic study for the proposed access road tie into Lanier Drive, a utility easement plat for the extension of the City of Statesboro water main, and a utility easement plat for Excelsior EMC power service.
