Tormenta Way & Old Register Road
About Project
Maxwell-Reddick and Associates performed the Surveying, Civil Design, Permitting and Construction Administration for the construction of Tormenta Way and the Improvements to Old Register Rd. Tormenta Way is a 3-lane roadway with bike lanes, a bus stop, curb & gutter, sidewalks and street lights. Old Register Rd., which was a 2-lane, rural type roadway, was reconfigured into a multi-lane roadway with right/left turn lanes, bike lanes, curb & gutter, sidewalks, street lights, and significant upgrades to two (2) intersections to include new Traffic Signals. New public and private utilities were relocated as necessary along Old Register Rd and installed along Tormenta Way.
Our Approach
The newly constructed Tormenta Way and the reconfigured Old Register Rd. will serve as major connector roadways between the existing By-Pass (Veterans Memorial Pkwy), a proposed Commercial Development, a proposed 5,000 seat Soccer Stadium Complex, a proposed large Mixed-Use Development, and Georgia Southern University’s North Campus and new South Campus. In addition, these roads will help serve as the gateway and connectors to developments located to the south, such as the new Bulloch County Multi-Use Arena Complex and existing schools. Required permits included GDOT Traffic Signal & Encroachment Permits, a Nationwide Wetland-Permit, and a Land Disturbance Permit.
One of the biggest challenges associated with this project was coordination required between multiple government entities, private land owners, regulatory agencies and the developer.
